3 Top Tips for Non-BPAY Payments

3 Top Tips for
Non-BPAY Bills!

As the demand for non-BPAY biller requests continues to soar, we’re now receiving hundreds of new additions daily. In response, we’re sharing three top tips to help you streamline payments to billers that only offer BSB and account numbers (i.e. non-BPAY billers).

land tax NSW, qld land tax, land tax calculator, land tax victoria, land tax qld, nsw land tax, queensland land tax, sto land tax, land tax calculation nsw, land tax queensland, land tax threshold nsw, victoria land tax, nsw land tax calculator, victorian land tax, qld land tax changes

TIP ONE
No Statements please

When you’re uploading a new biller for the first time, ensure you’re uploading a Tax Invoice or a Receipt, not a Statement.

Unfortunately a statement doesn’t enable us to see what specifically is being paid for to ensure it’s a permitted industry.

Once the biller is approved, you’re able to upload a statement moving forward, or … utilise TIP TWO.

TIP TWO
Repay a biller using ‘Receipts’

Once a biller has been approved, you don’t need to keep uploading the invoice – of course you’re welcome to do this for convenience or reconciliation purposes.

However, if you’d like to simply pay the bill for the amount you wish, tap on ‘Receips’. Locate the biller you wish to pay and tap to open the ‘Payment receipt’ – scroll down and tap ‘View bill’ then select, ‘Pay’.

Once you have tapped ‘Pay’, you can edit the bill amount beside the pencil ✏️ icon to be what you wish to pay. Then tap your payment method.

A ‘Warning’ will pop up to advise, ‘You are about to pay more than the amount owed. Would you like to continue?’. As you’re looking to pay the biller again, select, ‘OK’ and continue with the payment process.

TIP THREE - Rent goes to rent@sniip.com

Rent continues to be one of the most popular billers paid via non-BPAY, but it’s unlikely you’ll be able to add it into the Sniip app directly. This is often because the details are across multiple documents.

Of course, if you’re lucky and your rental receipt contains:
 – The ABN of your rental agency;
 – The BSB and account details for payment;
 – The total rent amount; and
 – The words ‘Receipt’,
You’ll be able to upload it directly into the app.

If you’re paying a new rental agency or don’t have a rental receipt, simply email your lease agreement through to rent@sniip.com.
Please confirm that your lease agreement contains:
The ABN of your rental agency (we cannot accept an ACN, and the ABN must be written on the lease agreement)
The BSB and Account details for payment. (If these are not contained on your lease agreement, please forward a copy of the email containing the details from your rental agency with their email signature on the bottom of the email.)
The total rent amount. (You can edit this in the app later.)
Your unique reference number/identifier for payment, e.g 11HOPECRT or SMITH231 etc.

Fast Five FAQ

Your easy guide to Sniip's Fast Five for this month.

1. Can you use Sniip to pay to a bank account?

Absolutely! This is one of the top asked questions on Google right now! In November 2023, we launched non-BPAY payments, enabling you to pay to a biller’s BSB and Account Number.

You can add your non-BPAY bill to Sniip in one of two ways:

1. Share from photos
– In the Sniip app, tap the blue ‘+’ button in the top right corner and select, ‘Import from photo’ and add a photo of your bill.
– Ensure your photo contains
-The ABN of the biller you’re paying
-BSB and Account Number for payment
       -The total bill amount
-The words invoice/tax invoice or receipt
Note: If your bill does not contain these core details, it will fail on upload. If you have confirmed your bill contains these details and it is not uploading, please email customercare@sniip.com.

2. Share from email
– Open your chosen mail provider app on your mobile device
– Open the bill containing the PDF of your invoice
– Tap the ‘Share’ button in the bottombuttom left corner of your bill and select, ‘Sniip’
– Your bill will be added to the Sniip app for payment
Ensure your PDF contains:
-The ABN of the biller you’re paying
-BSB and Account Number for payment
       -The total bill amount
-The words invoice/tax invoice or receipt
Note: If your bill does not contain these core details, it will fail on upload. If you have confirmed your bill contains these details and it is not uploading, please email customercare@sniip.com.

2. I added my non-BPAY bill to Sniip and it says, ‘Under Review’. I want to pay it now - how do I get it approved?

Each day we receive hundreds of new biller approval requests. Our team reviews each biller as quickly as possible with a 24-48 hour business day turnaround.

Please note, we are only alerted of your biller if the details have first been reviewed by you. If you haven’t reviewed the details, your biller will not be in the review list.

If there’s any urgency to your review or you have any questions, please phone
(07) 3268 7710 or email customercare@sniip.com.

Ask Me: Top 3!

Your guide to Sniip's top three questions this month

How do I upload a non-BPAY bill?

When it comes to BSB & Account Number payments, we need a copy of the bill. You can add your bill to the Sniip app in one of three ways:

1. Import from Photo (in the Sniip app)
Take a photo/ Import from camera roll.

2. Share PDF bill from email (via your chosen email app)
Open the email containing your bill/invoice, tap the ‘Share’ button and select Sniip.

3. Have bills automatically import from your email
The next time you have a bill land in your inbox, it’ll automatically upload into the Sniip app.

I don't have a 'bill' for my rent, how can I set up rent payments through Sniip?

You can upload/share a receipt of your previous rent payment to Sniip. This is a great option as it may contain the key information we need:

  • ABN (this is required, we cannot facilitate private rentals)
  • Total bill amount
  • BSB & Account Number Details of who you’re paying

Alternatively, please email a copy of your lease/rental agreement containing the below details to rent@sniip.com.

  • ABN (this is required, we cannot facilitate private rentals)
  • Lessor and lessee details
  • Payable amount
  • Reference Number (so your biller can locate your payments)
  • BSB + Account details

We’ll create you a rental bill and add it to your ‘To pay’ tab within the ‘Bills’ section of the Sniip app. You’ll get a handy push notification and an email when it arrives.

Please note that this process can take up to 1 business day. If there’s an urgency to your request, please call (07) 3268 7710.

What does account verification mean?

Great question! In verifying your Sniip account, you’ll receive the green tick of ✅ Verification on your account and unlock your access to pay bills with a BSB & Account Number using Sniip.

What is it?
User Verification involves uploading a form of photo identification (Driver Licence/Passport) securely to the Sniip app.

Why is it required?
User Verification is a crucial step in the process of making bill payments to a BSB & Account Number and is required to be undertaken by all users who wish to access this functionality.

It serves several important purposes:

1. Security & Fraud Prevention: Verifying user information adds an extra layer of security and protection for your account and all parties involved in the payment process.

2. Regulatory Compliance: Sniip is a regulated Bill Payment Service Provider (BPSP). We are committed to maintaining compliance with all relevant industry standards and regulations. As part of these requirements, we’re required to request user verification for certain types of transactions, including payments to a BSB & Account Number.

You can learn more about our User Verification process, here.
