JUST IN: Brisbane-based bill payment app, Sniip has taken a top gong at leading awards night for finance products in Australia, the Fintech Australia, ‘Finnies’ held in Sydney tonight.

Sniip took out nine finalists to be named Best in Business – Best Innovation in Payments, recognising the company’s leadership in building secure, flexible, and user first payment technology for both businesses and consumers in Australia.

Presented by FinTech Australia, the Finnies held at Dalston House in Sydney celebrate the most forward-thinking fintechs across the country. This category honours the fintech payments provider that has delivered the most innovative, efficient, and secure payment solution, and Sniip is proud to lead that charge.

Sniip Founder and CEO Damien Vasta said, “We’re absolutely thrilled to be recognised as the Best Innovation in Payments at the 2025 Finnies. This award is a reflection of the incredible team behind Sniip and the technology we’ve built together. From day one, we’ve focused on giving Australians a better, more secure and rewarding way to pay bills, and this recognition affirms that we’re on the right path. I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve achieved so far, and even more excited for what’s ahead.”

Fintech Australia CEO Rehan D’Almeida said: “We’re especially proud of our judging process. We go to great lengths to ensure the winners of the Finnies are truly deserving and the best in their field, as judged by their entry.”

Sniip is a mobile bill payment app launched in 2014. Promoted by brand ambassador Darren Lockyer, Sniip started out with a circular QR code on Brisbane bills including Brisbane City Council and Urban Utilities.

In 2019, Sniip partnered with BPAY to enable payment of more than 60,000+ bills via it’s mobile application. The company then went on to partner with American Express in 2021 unlocking full points earn capacity for bills (including the ATO) and new payment avenues.

More recently, Sniip introduced non-BPAY payments (payments to a billers BSB & Account Number) unlocking any bill in Australia to be paid via Sniip using any payment method of choice – this includes rent, tradespeople, goods and services and company fleet vehicles.

Changing the Way Australia Pays

Sniip has transformed the traditional bill payment model, offering users the ability to pay any bill using their preferred method, including credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and bank accounts, even when the biller doesn’t support those options.

The App supports both BPAY and non-BPAY billers (BSB & Account Number).

With full PCI DSS Tier 1 compliance, loyalty rewards integrations (Qantas Frequent Flyer & Virgin Australia Business Flyer), and a dedicated soon-to-launch payments portal, Sniip continues to redefine how Australians manage bills, securely, efficiently, and rewarding.

Vice President Mobility, APAC and WEX Matt Arthur said, “Sniip has delivered agile, cutting-edge technology that has enabled us to expand the WEX offering beyond traditional fuel transactions. Through our partnership, we’ve been able to introduce seamless, secure non-fuel payment capabilities for our fleet and other business customers – something previously unavailable at this scale. Their ability to adapt quickly and deliver a custom-built platform has made them an exceptional partner to work with.”
