On my credit card statement, how will the processing fee be displayed?

Your credit card statement will show the total payment amount, including the Sniip processing fee.

You can find a detailed receipt under the ‘Receipts’ tab in the bottom menu of the Sniip app. This receipt displays the processing fee, GST, total amount paid and lists Sniip’s ABN.

To receive an email copy of your receipt, first tap ‘Receipts’ located in the bottom menu of the Sniip app, then tap on the relevant bill payment. Tap on the email icon in the top right corner to email yourself the receipt. Please note, the receipt will automatically be sent to the email address linked to your Sniip account.

Is the Sniip processing fee on top of the existing biller fees?

Short answer, no!

Why? You are essentially making a BPAY payment through Sniip.

Your biller receives the funds via BPAY. If there are no additional fees from the biller for making a BPAY payment, the only fee you’ll pay is the Sniip processing fee of 1.5% for Visa/ Mastercard and 1.29% for Amex personal. Please see our full list of processing fees, here.  The processing fee amount will always be displayed to you before you pay a bill.

Paying from your bank account is 100% free in the Sniip app.

There are no app download fees, subscription fees or other hidden fees in the Sniip app.

If you pay a direct biller utilising the Sniip QR code or the AusPost Barcode, you may incur fees and/or charges imposed by the biller. These payment processing costs may be reflected at the time of making payment, or on your next bill from that biller.

If I use my credit card, is it treated as a cash advance?

No, it is not treated as a cash advance.

Sniip is an authorised BPAY Payer Institution Member (PIM). The process is simple: Sniip receives the payment for the bill from a user and once these funds have cleared, Sniip processes that payment on your behalf via BPAY.

Because the funds are cleared as a payment to Sniip, it is treated as a normal credit card purchase, not a cash advance.

Why does my bill say Biller Under Review/Unavailable?

Each BPAY biller is reviewed by Sniip to ensure it is in a permitted industry. This process is completed within one business day of you adding that biller for the first time into Sniip.

Due to the risk profile of certain billers, Sniip has initially restricted certain sectors.

These categories include:

  • Remittance service provider
  • Charities and Not-for-Profit
  • Intermediaries
  • Pay-day lenders
  • Internet gambling
  • Casinos
  • Goods dealers
  • Foreign exchange currencies
  • Securities and derivatives
  • Managed investment schemes
  • International business operations
  • International students or travel products
  • Hiring and leasing
  • Banking and financial institutions

If you believe you should be able to pay any of these billers, please contact the Sniip Support Squad or call (07) 3268 7710 and we will evaluate your biller on a case-by-case basis.

Please note: If a biller has been restricted by us, you will receive a ‘blocked biller’ message when you try to process the bill payment.

I tried adding my BPAY Biller Code and it says, ‘Blocked Biller’, what do I do?

Each BPAY biller is reviewed by Sniip to ensure it is in a permitted industry. If a biller has been restricted by us, you will receive a ‘blocked biller’ message when you try to process the bill payment.

What is Sniip?

Sniip is the easy way to pay!

Sniip is a free mobile app for iOS and Android that allows you to pay your bills, all in the one place. Sniip supports all payment methods and bank networks, allowing you to pay your bills from one central app. Sniip is bank and card agnostic, meaning you can pay with whichever card or bank you like, for whichever bill you like, in less than 20 seconds.*

With Sniip you can pay a bill now, schedule a payment for a later date, create recurring payments or connect your email to have all your bills automatically imported into the app for payment.

Due to the way we process transactions, Sniip also allows users with points-earning credit cards to earn full points on their payments.

*Restricted industries apply

What is the benefit of Sniip?

Sniip is a payment platform that allows you to pay your personal and household bills with any type of credit/debit card*. We pride ourselves on having an app that lets you store all your bills and payment methods in one place, making bill payments simple and easy. Sniip has helpful features such as Auto-Bill Import from Email and offer the ability to Scan paper bills or import bills from your camera roll.

If you have a points earning credit card, you’ll earn full points on your transactions through Sniip. How? We process your transaction as a two-legged transaction. When you use a rewards credit card, you will earn points on the first leg of the transaction (payment into the Sniip Trust account) even if your payment method isn’t accepted directly, and even if you’d earn reduced points/ no points if you pay the biller directly (for example government billers). Sniip will make payments via BPAY on the second leg of the transaction and this utilises the BPAY Scheme.

Personal payments with an American Express personal card are processed at a 1.29% fee, the lowest fees in the market. Remaining payment methods for personal payments have a 1.5% processing fee.
