How do I generate my Refer a Friend code?

To start referring your friends, log into your Sniip account and scroll down to the ‘Offers’ section.

Tap ‘Offers’ and then ‘Refer a Friend’.

Tap the ‘Share my code’ and tap ‘copy’ when prompted. You can now copy and paste your code to share with your friends and start earning rewards!

If you cannot locate ‘Offers’, you can customise your dashboard to add this section by selecting ‘Customise’ (at the bottom of the main Sniip dashboard).

Can you pay the ATO with a credit card with Sniip? Will I earn full points?

Yes! With the Sniip app, you can pay your ATO bills with a credit card, including Visa, Mastercard or Amex and earn full, uncapped points. Payments to the ATO, including superannuation, are charged at the business rate when using any American Express card.

A key benefit of using the Sniip app is that you can earn FULL POINTS for paying your ATO bill (and any other bills you may have). There are no app download fees, subscription fees or other hidden fees in the Sniip app.

Does my credit card payment get treated as a ‘Government payment’?

Short answer, no!

Credit card providers determine whether you are eligible for full rewards by looking at the billers MCC code. Our MCC code for Visa, Amex and Mastercard is 7399, which should not be excluded from their reward programs.

We process your transaction as a two-legged transaction. When you use a rewards credit card, you will earn points on the first leg of the transaction (payment into the Sniip Trust account) even if your payment method isn’t accepted directly, and even if you’d earn reduced points/ no points if you pay the biller directly (for example government billers).

Sniip will make payments via BPAY on the second leg of the transaction and this utilises the BPAY Scheme.

This means, when you pay with Sniip you can earn full reward points!

How long do payments take to reach the biller?

For BPAY payments, Sniip will let the user know prior to confirming the payment when the bill will be processed via BPAY to the biller.

The cut-off times for Sniip to receive your payment for processing the following business day are as follow:

  • American Express: 5pm AEST
  • Visa/Mastercard debit: 5pm AEST
  • Visa/Mastercard credit: 11:59pm AEST

Please note: Diners Club cards and pay from Bank Account require one additional day processing time. As such, the cut-off time for two business day processing is 5pm AEST.

Funds take roughly 24 hours to finalise and be deposited into the billers account so we suggest always paying your bill 2 business days before the due date.

Is your biller saying your bill is still unpaid?
Sometimes, biller portals take a few business days to update. If you have paid your bill through Sniip, the biller must recognise the BPAY payment as the date that the bill was paid. You may refer to the time-stamped receipt under the “Receipt” tab for record/reconciliation purposes.

Can I partially pay a bill?

Yes! Once you add your bill, simply amend the amount to be paid and pay a part of your bill.

Please note: Unfortunately, certain billers require you to pay the full amount in one transaction. Examples of payments that cannot be paid in instalments include: car registration, fines and licence renewal fees. Sniip will automatically prevent you from partially paying these particular billers.

Will I get a receipt?

Absolutely! After a successful payment you will get a transaction receipt which is stored under the Receipt section at the bottom right corner of the Sniip app. This receipt can be exported from the app and emailed to you ready for tax time/account reconciliation. This receipt will show you the processing fee, GST, total amount paid and has our ABN number.

What happens if my payment fails?

If your payment fails, please check your card details are correct and up to date.

As your information is securely stored, you will only be able to view the last 4 digits of your card in the Sniip app.

You may need to delete your current card in ‘Payment Methods’ and re-enter the card details.

If you have any questions or require further assistance, please contact the Sniip Support Squad or call (07) 3268 7710.

How do Sniip instalments work? Is it Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL)?

Sniip provides you with the flexibility to pay your  bills with your own money, in instalments, before your bill is due.

Currently, we do not offer a Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) option.

To create a Sniip instalment plan, simply tap on the bill you wish to pay and tap ‘Schedule’, then tap ‘Create Instalment Plan’. You can then set-up a bill due date and the number of instalments you wish to pay. Simple!

Check out our blog post on Instalment Plans to learn all about using this feature in the Sniip app.
